For Educators
For over 30 years, the Harris Center has been working with local school communities to help students, teachers and families learn about the natural world through first-hand experiences. The most successful Harris Center programs are those that result from collaborative efforts between the Harris Center teacher/naturalist and the classroom teacher. Our programs are designed to support the curricular needs in the real world context of schoolyards and backyards. Working with national, state and district science curriculum frameworks, we help teachers step out of the classroom and into the field, as we bring the local natural world to life and help to make everyday connections. To find out how to bring the Harris Center into your classroom or how to bring your class to the Harris Center, contact Susie Spikol, Co-Director of Education at (603) 525-3394. The Harris Center offers a wide variety of programs that explore the local natural world. From hikes to lectures to workshops these programs can open your eyes to new knowledge, expand and enrich existing knowledge and give you fresh confidence in teaching a topic or exploring the outdoors.
